Nextabula independently designed and engineered the knowledge base, question-generation and verification workflows, and learner-facing web application delivered during the Practitionr engagement. This case study describes that handoff package, not the current live product or the public marketing website.
The challenge
Practitionr needed more than educational content: it needed a web application that could help physical therapy and physical therapist assistant candidates identify gaps, study with feedback, and prepare for licensure exams.
The work connected two substantial efforts: developing the content foundation and engineering the software through which learners would use it. The delivered experience brought onboarding, baseline assessment, focused study, progress tracking, and practice exams into one product.

Nextabula’s contribution
Nextabula’s work encompassed knowledge-base development, question generation and verification, and engineering of the learner-facing application. Client-supplied product direction and wireframes informed the application’s implementation.
The engagement included technical design, frontend and backend development, data integration, testing, deployment, documentation, and handoff of the application and its supporting systems.
What Nextabula delivered
Developed the knowledge base and question bank from exam content outlines, and built tools to create and verify practice material. Combined instructional design with software engineering to make the content usable within a learning product.
Built account access, onboarding, baseline assessment, study sessions, question feedback, learning support, saved content, progress views, practice exams, and results. Connected the screens into an interactive experience rather than a collection of static pages.
Carried the implementation through functional testing, issue resolution, and deployment work. Prepared source code, documentation, operational guidance, QA evidence, and known open items so the client could continue with the delivered system.
Engineering challenges
The content, assessments, study experience, and progress reporting needed to support the same learner journey. Nextabula connected content development and application engineering within a cohesive learning experience.
Creating practice material was only part of the task. Nextabula also developed verification and review capabilities, tested learner workflows, and tracked unresolved issues. A functioning generation tool alone was not the definition of a finished learning product.
The engagement required deployment and transfer as well as implementation. Nextabula documented the system's state and remaining work alongside the code, supporting continued development after handoff.
